PAC session (Pacific Art Collective)
Cultural Xposure Through Unity of Art
By Justine Ortiz (Mrs. Joe Black)
If you're described as "living in a
cave", it's easy to assume you may not have heard
of a PAC session. For those "living outside that ubiquitous
box", more than likely you're aware or have even engaged
in the collaborative wonder that is PAC session produced
by the Pacific Art Collective.
The Pacific Art Collective (PAC) is
a Downtown San Jose based exposure group, focused
on giving our community cultural exposure through
the unity of art and technology. In just 15 months,
the PAC has grown to over 200 members with support
from their 26 sponsors. PAC's exuberant, unprecedented
versatility is obtained, and gracefully sustained.
PAC's creators, much like their events, are ever changing
in chameleon like ways. Their cutting edge approach
in displaying expressive art, enables them to adapt
and absorb new surroundings, and seamlessly become
each environment.
PAC has showcased their recognized art
events at more than a dozen venues throughout the
Bay Area exposing venues as well as the artists. Venues
such as the SJ Rep Theatre, City Lights Theatre,
The Carnelian Room, 5 Color Cowboy, Johnny V's, Waves,
& Barbarella share the triumph of a brand new
audience and consumer demographic while contributing
to the enrichment of our community.
PAC's network of artisans such as painters
(Duser/SF post-graf, Ryan Ellison/SJ figurative-surrealist),
poets (Mike McGee/SJ Nat. Poetry Slam Champ), musicians
(INQ/SJ rock, Datz Hym & Hym 2/Oakland Hip-Hop, Rick
Walker/S.Cruz live looping), dancers (Tezkatlipoka/SJ
aztek), performance artists (BSCLF/Fremont Kung Fu
Academy), comedians (Godnthaflesh/Modesto), photography
(Jennifer & Nancy Ahn/SJ), dee Jayz (Gabriel Black/SJ,
Rick Preston/S.Cruz, Divinity/Oakland), and many
others can be seen guiding the shopping center tour
of inspiration and creativity twice monthly.
You see, PAC strives to make San Jose
an art capitol for promising gatherings, where people
from all over the Bay, and the World, can come together.
A closer look at the diversity of each artist and
their diverse geographical locations, only further
supports their endeavors.
A United Nation's for all artists, PAC
session continues to bring artists and audiences from
all over the West Coast, here to San Jose.
PAC's always looking for new volunteers
and Collective artists!
