SJMA AND PACIFIC ART COLLECTIVE REACH OUT TO YOUNG
ADULTS VIA CULTURAL XPOSURE
Contact: Doniece Sandoval (408) 271-6880
San Jose, Calif. -- On Friday, April
22, 2005, the San Jose Museum of Art (SJMA) together
with Pacific Art Collective (PAC) will launch a new
program called Cultural Xposure designed to reach
the 21+ crowd and connect them to the arts and the
Museum.
As museums across the country grapple
with the challenge of engaging young professionals,
the SJMA and PAC -- a non-profit arts organization
dedicated to presenting live, cross-cultural performance
events that create awareness for art districts, artists
and venues -- have created Cultural Xposure to meet
that challenge. This unique collaboration provides
SJMA with an ideal opportunity to cultivate more meaningful
dialog with younger lovers of art as well as the art
collectors of tomorrow.
Cultural Xposure consists of an appetizing
cornucopia of on-the-spot painting from exciting local
artists with backbeats and verse by hot DJs plus live
music, dance, slam-style poetry and more - tapping
into the growing trend among hipsters to bring out
the "art" in partying. Cultural Xposure will take
place at the Museum from 7pm to 11pm. Tickets are
$10 for the general public; $5 for SJMA members. For
more information, contact Marilyn Cahill at 408.291.5372.
