Aunia Kahn is a hybrid mixed media artist, photographer, musician, writer and freelance designer born in Detroit, MI.
In creating she most often times uses herself as a way to stay one hundred percent connected to her emotions, views and personal history that affects her artwork. She builds characters, non-existent places, and dreams about them, executes them, and lets them breathe their own life in the visual world.
Although Kahn has been creative at some level all her life, her career, as an artist did not officially start till January 2005 when she exhibited for the first time. With the support and receptivity to her outspoken subject matter, in 2006 she took the world by storm with tripling her exhibition history with over 30 shows, and in 2007 stands be a part of at least 50.
Aunia has been featured and/or interviewed by REFUSED, Crawling Tunes, SNAP, Forbidden Whispers, Juxtapoz, O’Fallon Progress, Celebrity Artist Michael Bell Radio Show, Phirebrush, Stone, Mink, Glubdub and countless others. In 2007 Le Bourgeois Vineyards featured her work “Rousing the Whirlwind” on a collectors series of wine bottles, and in 2005 she won the top award in graphics at the Mitchell Museum.
Her work has been exhibited at places like the Mitchell Museum, Los Angeles Center for Digital Art, San Diego Art Institute, Cpop Gallery, Gallery NoiR, and many more.
Kahn is presently working on publishing poetry/art book, her 78-card tarot deck “Silver Era Tarot”, collaborating with Wolfgang Lehmkuhl on the dark storybook “Dante Dahl”, a producer on the feature film “The Dead and the Dreaming”, is directing and curating an annual exhibition "Darkest Dreams a Lighted Way" in the light of abused people, has been chosen as 1 or the "Cirl of Eight" for the "Voices Love Music" tour that will take place 08-08-08 in Los Angeles, California in support of victims of DOMESTIC VIOLENCE and SPOUSAL ABUSE, she is working on her solo music project AfterChain and getting ready for a 2008 release of her CD Single “Void”, and a part of many other ventures that pull at her creative motivation.
Aunia now resides in Illinois where she spends her free time with her 4 dogs and 2 cats in a little house on a hill.
